Board Policies

In the year 2009, the Alexis Education Board was restructured and a new Independent Board was formed to oversee and direct the management and operations of the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation's Education System. (Refer to Alexis Board of Education -
 Organizational Structure Chart for Protocol)

The Alexis Board of Education continues to develop policies and procedures to direct the management and operations of the Alexis School and Alexis Education Programs and Services. The Board has developed and implemented several changes in the areas of:

1. Administrative and Financial Services in the operations of its institutions
2. Adult Literacy Program
3. Classroom space to student from grades 8-12 (Training Centre)
4. Computer Network system and yearly upgrade of Computer Lab
5. Elder involvement program to students
6. First Nation Stoney language Instruction
7. Guidance and Career Counseling
8. Insurance and Liability Premiums
9. Library services
10. On-going development of First Nation content in the School System Curriculum
11. Operation & Maintenance funding to the Public Works Department for Alexis School
12. Special Education
13. Student services for students attending Alexis School
14. Support and encourage Extra Curricular activities- i.e. Field of Studies
15. Teacher Instruction for students attending Alexis School
16. Transportation services to students attending Alexis and Onoway Schools
17. Tuition costs for on-reserve students attending Northern Gateway Schools
