Curriculum Development

The Alexis Heritage Institute is responsible for developing materials and resources for the Alexis Education and the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation. 

The Heritage Institute researches, designs and develops curriculum content, training materials, training modules, teaching aids, and manages all aspects of curriculum development programs including but not limited to: Alexis Stoney Language, Social Studies, Culture and History Programs. The Institute will develop curriculum to be used by Alexis School Teachers and Instructors, Alexis Outreach Staff, Alexis Band Staff and/or Academic Institutions outside Alexis.

Information is derived from the following sources:

1. Research conducted by the Heritage Institute.
2. Historical Interviews conducted by other band programs and transferred to the Alexis Heritage Institute.
3. Stories submitted by Alexis Band Members and verified by the Heritage Institute.
4. Information and literature submitted and verified by various organizations and agencies such as Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and the Yellowhead Tribal Council.
